Abstract:
Cardiovascular diseases remain one of the leading causes of mortality globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where access to diagnostic tools is limited. This study presents the design and development of a low-cost, portable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring device aimed at improving early detection of cardiac abnormalities. The device integrates a three-lead ECG sensor, a microcontroller-based signal processor, and a Bluetooth module for real-time data transmission to a mobile application. Performance evaluation was conducted on 50 subjects, comparing readings from the prototype with a standard hospital-grade ECG machine. Results showed a 96% correlation in waveform accuracy, demonstrating the potential of the device for community-level cardiac screening. The proposed system offers a reliable, affordable, and accessible solution for cardiac monitoring, with possible integration into telemedicine platforms for remote healthcare delivery.
